Ancrum Primary School

Ancrum Primary School dates from 1866 when it was built to take the place of the existing Parish School. The school has seen many changes since then. Its catchment area now includes  the Parishes of Sandystones, Crailing and Lanton.  The building has also changed considerably.  Major upgrading and refurbishment took place in 1992.
There are currently 41 children from Primary 1 to 5 in two classes.
The School provides a safe, welcoming and stimulating environment where everyone is valued and individual talents are nurtured so that all children may achieve their full potential. In the small school environment children can enjoy quality teaching and learning delivered by a committed staff who work hard to ensure the needs of all children are met and that all children make good progress in their learning.
Following the implementation of Transforming Children's Services, Scottish Borders Council's review of education services in the region, Ancrum Primary School shares its Headteacher, George Gilchrist, with Parkside Primary in Jedburgh. Contact details can be found below and Mr Gilchrist can be contacted at both schools.
